The Hair You Don’t Talk About: Yes, We Treat That Too

Let’s talk about the hair you probably don’t talk about.

Maybe it’s the one chin hair that keeps coming back. Maybe it’s a few hairs around your chest, stomach, toes, bikini area, or somewhere else you’ve always wondered, “Is is normal to have hair here?”

The answer is usually yes.

At Ober Yahr Electrolysis, we talk about hair all day long. There really isn’t an awkward area or embarrassing question when it comes to unwanted hair. If there’s a hair bothering you, chance are we’ve seen something similar before.

Bodies grow hair in all kinds of places. Sometimes we just don’t want it there, and that’s okay.

“Other People Have Hair There Too?”

Absolutely.

Hair growth looks different for everyone. Genetics, hormones, age, certain medications, and other factors can all play a role in where hair grows and how noticeable it becomes.

For some people, it’s a couple of coarse hairs on the chin or neck. For others, it may be more noticeable facial or body hair related to hormonal changes or conditions such as PCOS. Sometimes there isn’t an obvious reason at all.

You also don’t need a medical reason to want a hair removed.

If it bothers you, that’s reason enough to ask us about it.

Yes, We Treat Hair There

One of the things we love about electrolysis is how precise it is. Since we’re treating individual hair follicles, we can work on many different areas of the face and body.

Some of the areas people are sometimes hesitant to ask about include:

  • Chin, jawline, and upper lip
  • Neck and sideburns
  • Chest and around the breast
  • Stomach
  • Bikini area
  • Fingers and toes
  • Ears
  • Brows and other facial areas
  • Areas involved in gender-affirming hair removal

It might feel awkward to you, but to your electrologist, it’s just another day at work.

We’re focused on the hair, your comfort, and giving you the best treatment we can.

Please Don’t Feel Embarrassed

We know unwanted hair can be a sensitive subject.

For some people, it’s a minor annoyance. For others, it can really affect their confidence or become something they thing about every single day.

You might tweeze before leaving the house. Maybe you’d tried shaving, waxing, laser, or just about everything else. Maybe there’s an area you’ve been dealing with for years but have always felt embarrassed to ask someone about.

You don’t have to feel that way here.

We aren’t here to judge how much hair you have, where it grows, or how you’ve been managing it. We just want to know what’s bothering you and what you’d like to change.

From there, we can talk about what electrolysis might look like for you.

We Know You Want to Tweeze It

We get it. You see the hair, you have tweezers nearby, and pulling it takes about two seconds.

Once you start electrolysis, though, we may ask you to break up with your tweezers for a while.

Your electrologist needs the hair to be present in order to treat it. When you tweeze, you’re pulling the hair out instead of giving us the opportunity to treat the follicle.

If you need to manage visible hair between appointments, just ask your electrologist what they recommend. We can help you figure out what works best without interfering with your treatment plan.

Everyone’s Treatment Looks a Little Different

One of the biggest things to remember about electrolysis is that everyone’s experience is different.

Someone coming in for a handful of chin hairs isn’t going to have the same treatment plan as someone working on a larger area. Hair density, hormones, previous hair removal, the area being treated, and your natural hair growth cycles can all affect the process.

That’s why we don’t give everyone the exact same schedule or timeline.

We’ll work with you to figure out what makes sense for your hair and your goals.

You Don’t Need “Enough Hair” to Make an Appointment

We sometimes hear from people who aren’t sure if they have enough hair to bother coming.

There really is no minimum amount.

If you have three hairs that have been driving you crazy for the last five years, we can talk about those three hairs.

If you have a larger area that you’re tired of constantly shaving, waxing, or tweezing, we can talk about that too.

A consultation gives you a chance to show us what’s bothering you, ask questions, and learn what treatment could look like. You don’t need to know exactly what you want before your come in. That’s what we’re here to help with.

Your Hair Isn’t Weird

At the end of the day, hair is personal.

Some people love their body hair. Some people don’t think twice about it. Others feel much more confident without certain hair.

There’s no right or wrong way to feel about yours.

At Ober Yahr Electrolysis, we’re here to help you decide there’s hair you’d rather not have.

So yes, you can ask us about that chin hair.

You can ask us about the hair you’ve been tweezing for years.

And you can absolutely ask, “Can you treat hair here?”

We promise, it’s probably not as unusual as you think.

You bring the hair. We’ll take care of the rest.

Ready to get started? Schedule a consultation with Ober Yahr Electrolysis, and let’s talk aout what bothering you and how we can help.
