Jamie Ober’s path to becoming a leader in electrolysis wasn’t conventional. After attending cosmetology school, she felt unfulfilled as a stylist. Her interest was not in cutting hair, but in providing a permanent solution for removing it. This curiosity led her to a Craigslist ad for Yahr Electrolysis.
“I applied, but they had already hired someone,” Jamie recalls. “I was determined to work with them. I kept bugging them until a position became available.”
Her persistence paid off. In 2015, Jamie began working alongside Dr. Charles Yahr and Jane Yahr, the original founders. She quickly became fascinated with the science and precision of electrolysis and earned her Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE) credential. After several years under their mentorship, the Yahrs prepared for retirement. In September 2020, Jamie officially took over, rebranding as Ober Yahr Electrolysis. “It was important for me to keep their name, to continue their legacy,” she says.
